A Prayer for Shaneiqua Elkins and the Survivors

God,

We come to You with hearts that are heavy beyond words.

We do not have the answers.

We do not understand this kind of pain.

But we know that You see it.

We know that You feel it.

And we ask You now to draw near to this mother—Shaneiqua.

Wrap her in a presence so strong that even in her darkest moments, she is not alone.

Hold her when the grief becomes too much.

When the silence feels unbearable.

When the memories come flooding in and she cannot catch her breath.

Be her strength when she has none left.

Be her comfort when nothing else can soothe her heart.

God, she has lost what no mother should ever lose.

Eight children.
