A Prayer Carried Through the Silence: For Shaneiqua Elkins and the Children Whose Voices Were Taken Too Soon

Help us to recognize pain before it turns into something we cannot take back.

Let this tragedy not just break our hearts—

But open them.

Wider than before.

So that love has more room to exist.

So that compassion becomes louder than silence.

So that no one feels alone in their suffering.

God, we place this family in Your hands.

Not because we understand.

But because we trust that You are still there, even here.

Even now.

Amen.

And after the prayer ends…

The silence returns.

But something is different.

Because now, that silence is shared.

Carried not just by one mother, or one family, but by all of us who chose to stop, to feel, and to lift them up.

This story does not have a resolution.

Not today.
